- About My Ebay Offerings -
- Selling Orchids on Ebay started out in May of 2001 as an
outlet for my excess plants, and has quickly blossomed into
an enjoyable experience and part-time business. I really don't
consider myself a professional orchid supplier but on the
flipside I'm definitely more involved than many hobbyists,
thus I prefer the title "Orchidist". My ebay user
ID is matt-pedersen. Ebay orchid sales occur primarily between
the months of April through October. CLICK

- You will most often find my offerings consist
of Orchids from the genera Paphiopedilum and Phragmipedium.
I've found these orchids (despite the rumors) to actually
be some of the easiest to grow and most resistant and resilient
(I've killed MANY Phals, Cattleyas, Dendrobiums etc..but only
a handful Paphs and Phrags!) The overall key to success is
simply getting quality, healthy plants to start with! My success
with Paphs and Phrags has given me the courage to try even
the most "difficult", "rare" and expensive
varieties and I have not yet been disappointed.
- You will also occasionally see me offering Phalenopsis,
Oncidiums, and other curiosities. I tend to like anything
miniature - any offering which is not a Paph or a Phrag is
something VERY special in my opinion, otherwise I wouldn't
bother offering it! I raise "Equitant" Oncidiums,
Brassovola nodosa, Epidendrum parkensonainum, and other mounted
plants hanging directly under lights (a great use of otherwise
wasted space). These plants get sprayed with water every day
and also provide a bit of shade for the Paphs/Phrags below.
- My offerings are always focused on
quality, hand selected plants! Each plant that you see offered
has been carefully considered for size, condition, and when
possible, known clonal parentage is always preferred. I definitely
feel that a cheaper plant is not necessarily a better deal,
thus you may at times find listings which seem more costly
but the plants are well worth it! My purchasing habits are
to purchase quality plants in quantity to obtain lower prices,
not to simply purchase the cheapest possible! You will also
notice that I strive to bring you some of the rarest and most
desirable plants (un)available! If you ever want to know WHY
a plant commands the price it does I'm happy to explain!
- I continue to provide the most detailed
listings for each individual plant going beyond what most
sellers consider to be adequate. You can expect each listing
to ALWAYS be accompanied with a clear, concise image of the
EXACT plant you are bidding on, almost always including a
ruler to allow you to easily gauge the size of the plant.
If I own an image of a bloom picture, I will include it. If
not, I will LINK to other images on the web and cite the owner
of the copyright. I discourage infringement of copyright whether
from printed materials or the use of other peoples web images
on their auction pages. I usually include precise measurements
of the leaf span which is TIP TO TIP and usually a count of
the leaves as well. I carefully chose my words when describing
each plant; a BS plant is DEFINITELY blooming size and should,
with proper care, bloom within the next year. TRUE DIVISIONS
of Paphs and Phrags are rare. Sellers on Bid4Plants and other
auction sites will list NBS seedlings as divisions. While
this doesn't matter to most buyers, it matters to me as a
seller and orchid breeder; I will always reserve the use of
the word DIVISION for a plant which truly IS a division of
a stud plant or unbloomed multiple growth plant.
- Let's put it this way, I placed orders back
in March of 2001 from some online suppliers and STILL HAVEN'T
received them! I promise to get your plants to you the absolute
earliest possible after receiving your payment. I also accept
MANY forms of payment, including Paypal, Money Orders, Cashier's
Checks, and Personal Checks to allow you, my client, the most
flexibility! Plants are always packed in the appropriate manner
with the utmost care.
Shipping - I now offer shipping via
USPS and Fed-Ex, again allowing you the most control and choice
over your purchase! For easy of purchase, I have a new flat
rate shipping costs for USPS on auctions, still the lowest
shipping prices you'll see on eBay!! I do not guarantee plants
due to their perishable and fragile nature however I'm happy
to discuss any problems and will work to rectify situations
that may arise. I like to handle each problem on an individual,
personal basis.
