- Orchids from my Friends & Clients -
Last Updated - 7-23-05
This gallery is special to me; these are
photographs sent by my friends and orchid clients. Some are
from plants they have purchased from me. Some are plants which
have be used as pollen donors in my cooperative breeding program.
Still others are simply stunning plants that deserve to be
shared! My only rules for submissions are that they are decently
clean, focused photos of orchids and that the plants are identified
:) Send
Me YOUR PICS!
All images are listed in alphabetical order
by the my "Orchid Friend's" last name. All images
are copyright of their respective photographers and may not
be used in any manner without the photographer's permission.
I have contacted each individual to personally obtain their
permission to publish their images in this gallery. All images
are fully credited to their owners. To my friends and clients,
please feel free to send your images for inclusion in this
gallery.

Paph. moquettianum 'Uri Baruk'
|
|
|
|
| Uri Baruk is well known
in the Paph world. In this particular instance, we traded pollen
of our moquettianums to produce a unique, genetically diverse
grex. 'Uri Baruk' is the clonal name I have used to identify
this particular stud (which doesn't have a clonal name). Check
out his website, lots of cool pictures! Thanks Uri! |

Paph. Iantha Stage
|
Paph. Midnight Beacon |
|
|
| Jason provided me with
pollen from this Iantha Stage for a breeding idea we had...unfortunately
it didn't work! I'll be happy to try it again. More recently,
Jason sent along a second set of pollen from his stunning vini
Midnight Beacon. Arguably one of the best vini's I've seen!
I have a couple ideas what I'm going to try, but with the possibility
of ploidy in this particular stud my grexes might not work!
Make sure to check out his website, where he showcases even
more of his plants + images from 2 shows. Thanks Jason! |

Philippe is a fellow member of the
Yahoo Group "pollenrequest", where growers get together
to exchange pollen for various breeding projects. Philippe
has sent pollen from both of the above plants; if all goes
as planned we'll have at least one nice cross coming up! Thank
you Philippe!

|
| Both Sander's Pride 'Gerry'
and Living Fire 'Gerry' were sent to me by Gerry for their pollen.
I was shocked to find that they transported so well (the Living
Fire was "cracked" on one petal) so I simply HAD to
photograph them! Gerry and I have also been working on improving
his photographic technique...he's making quite a bit of progress.
Check out those shots! I think that Gerry's shot of Wossner
Stonesup is the first published on the web! Thank you Gerry! |

| Paul is one of those
guys I end up talking to every week :) He has been faithfully
working with Brachy and Complex types at TenderTrap to produce
some really cutting edge offspring. We've been trading pollen
& stud plants whenever possible; his collection has fathered
some of the most interesting crosses you'll see offered in the
coming years! Thanks Paul! |

Paph. Window Ledge Ray
(urbanianum 'Midge' X moquetteanum 'Raging')
|
|
|
|
|
Howard is the first I know of to have bloomed this vigorous
cross I concocted in December of 2000! I've given him my permission
to register the grex (now known as Window Ledge Ray) - here's
what Howard had to say about the plant.
"You deserve a congratulations. I purchased this flask
of Urbanianum X Moquettianum from you via Ebay three years
ago. They were received on June 16, 2002. Just today the first
one is in bloom, just a micro hair under three years! As you
can see from the picture the child has turned out to be a
beautiful bloomer. Thanks again for sharing this great cross
of yours with me, hope that yours are doing well, All the
ones I still have are doing great, cant wait to see how they
will turn out, how different they will be.
Sincerely,
Howard A Guest"

| Mark is simply a great
guy! He has been kind enough to donate pollen from his parishii

this parishii in the future. Not to mention all the other nice
shots he's sent! Make sure to thank Mark! |

Lorne just sent me a bunch of pics out of the blue, simply
out of the kindness of his heart. They are STUNNING shots.
Obviously he has talent so I've asked him what his "secret"
is...if he tells me it'll be here!
As you can see from several of Lorne's pics, 3N Phrags (despite
being poor breeders) tend to carry above average blooms! Thanks
for contributing the pics Lorne!

Jean-Pierre is a friend of Uri Baruk
who originally introduced us. Jean-Pierre had this wonderful
first bloom rothschildianum and was in search of pollen. I
happened to have 'Trans-Atlantic' in bloom at the same time,
so we swapped. Unfortunately, neither of our pollinations
worked out this time around, but I'm sure we'll try it again
soon! 'Jean-Pierre' is a temporary clonal name for this stud
until we think up something better! Thanks Jean-Pierre.
Check out all those wonderful shots
of rothschildianum! The "close ups" I've scaled
to 50% of their original size, and yet they are still HUGE
pictures. You can clearly see ALL the detail of this Paphiopedilum's
anatomy in these shots.

back I found the first Kolosand picture and asked if I could
included it in this gallery. To my surprise, not only did he
say "sure" but he also sent along another Kolosand

Roberto and I have been discussing
CITES at great lengths, and he has been a TREMENDOUS influence
on my thoughts. Roberto will be co-authoring / editing my
second CITES article, as a lot of "my" suggestions
are really the result of our debates.
A new update, Roberto sent me a
CD of images for this gallery probably two months ago! Finally
I've taken the time to START adding them! Your generousity
is beyond words Roberto, Thank you!
